A
view of Chapel Rock that shows the roots sustaining the pine
tree that grows on top of it. The guides on the Pictured Rocks
Boat Tours claim that Chapel Rock was once connected to the
mainland. That part of the rock formation caved in, and these
roots were left hanging. The tree now draws most of its sustanance
from the mainland via these roots that now hang in mid-air. |

The
ruins of an old log cabin that you will see if you return to
the trialhead via the trail that does not go by Chapel Falls.
This cabin is actually only about 1000 feet from the Chapel
Falls trailhead parking lot. |
